Ya Rath           January 16, 2018

I think the event is interesting. Last time when we went to New York, we also saw some Cambodia instruments and music. However, this time is much closer and I got to see how do they play the traditional instrument. From the way he talked, I can feel that he really appreciate his culture, and he is thankful to his father. I think it is a more meaningful experience since we watched that with the cap students. Becasue many of them are great artists and they know more about music and instruments, they asked more detailed and professional question that I learned from.

February 26, 2018 Skype with Ghenwah, Syrian refugee in Turkey

I think this is a interesting experience. Compared to many other speaker who are usually the experts on the field that they are working on, Ghenwah is more like a typical Syrian public. I think the public’s voice usually represents a true situation of the society. I’m surprise that her experience was actually romantic and less adventurous than I usually see in the news. I really like the expression that she left the country in order to achieve something more than the basic life. Even it’s the end of the world people should have dreams. When she mentions about not moving back to Syria, she mentions about the future of her son, which is similar to many families experience. Even though she is satisfied with her current situation, but I can feel that she is taking some risks, and worries about her country. I think the main problem is the corrupt of the Syrian government, and it needs a inside out rebuild to change the situation.
