About

Watercolor

The painting is titled Cosmic Railway. The main setting is inside of an on-going train, and the background behind the glass window is the universe. There is only a backpack that is placed on the seat, and apparently, there is no sign of a human being inside the train or out in space at this moment. Also, the window is broken.

I decided to use the opposite color to set the contrast between the universe and the train, implies the two different world.  Life sometimes for me is a one-way and nonstop train that seems like there is no end, like inside the universe. You don’t know what your destination is and which side of the world you really belong to. That shield of glass separating the two worlds seems so vague and easy to break through, but once you cross that barrier, things are unpredictable. The “missing person” in the painting explains that it’s also hard to define my existence on both sides.
